Beyonce, the world’s favorite R’n’B singer, dancer, performer, actress and fashion icon, the Queen Bey, is currently being sued for $7 million over some plagiarism claims!
It’s hard to picture Beyonce being guilty of anything else apart from being fabulous, but some people might argue with that. Take Ahmad Lane for example.
Lane is a back-up singer, who has worked with Beyonce and Chrissy Collins before, is trying to get $7 million out of Jay-Z’s 33 year old wife. Lane’s lawsuit is incriminating Beyonce in plagiarism and is suing her and her label. The back-up singer claims that he wrote a song called XOXO and then gave it to Collins. According to the lawsuit, Collins allegedly gave the track to Beyonce and her crew, who later used it as a base to Beyonce’s single XO. Thus, Lane is now suing not only the singer, but also Columbia Pictures and Parkwood Entertainment, for a total of $7 million.
The 34 year old singer, who is known for her creativity and uniqueness, has waved off the whole thing. She responded to the plagiarism lawsuit with a snappy remark regarding the fact that she not only has five Grammy Award, but has also sold 118 million records all across the globe. Or in other words, she doesn’t need somebody else’s original work in order to make money out of it. Bey’s team has also commented on the lawsuit stating that there are absolutely no lyrical or instrumental similarities between her single XO and Lane’s song XOXO, apart from the fact that both titles feature the letters X and O.
Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time Beyonce has been incriminated for plagiarism. She made headlines several times back in 2007, 2011, 2012 and 2014 for similar reasons. Of course, all of them turned out to be lies.
