Impact Team, a team of hackers, managed to work their way through Ashley Madison’s security system and are threatening to leak all of the adultery dating website’s users’ personal data.
Ashley Madison is one of the top adult dating websites in the world. It’s specially designed for people, who are already in a relationship, but want to start an affair and cheat on their partner. The website currently has more than 37 million users from all around the world and their personal data, such as names, addresses and financial records, are stored on the website’s servers. The team of hackers claims that even those people, who have deactivated their profiles, are still in the database.
Impact Team have issued a public statement claiming that if the website’s officials don’t shut it down permanently, they will leak all personal info belonging to all of its users. The hackers have made it clear that Ashley Madison doesn’t only incite adultery, but also ruins families all over the world. The hackers have also threatened another website owned by Ashley Madison’s owners – Established Men.
Avid Life Media, the company that stands behind Ashley Madison and Established Men, has issued an official statement regarding the security breach, which occurred on the 15th of July this year. The company claims that the hackers’ deeds are illegal and that Avid Life Media has hired the best IT professionals in a desperate attempt to fix things up and to secure the personal data of its users.
Impact Team, on the other hand, have threatened to expose not only Ashley Madison’s users, but also its employees – addresses, e-mails, credit card transactions, real life names, conversations, pictures, and so on.
