Andre Rene Roussimoff was born in May 1946 in Grenoble, France. Andre known for his nickname “The Giant” stood at 7’4” and 500 pounds. From an early age he suffered from a disorder called acromegally that enabled his body to produce excessive amounts of the growth hormone. The condition is also known as Giantism and it made Andre grow almost his entire life. When he was just 17-years-old he stood at 6’7”.
Although he was a world-renowned profssional wrestler and was vicious inside the ring Andre the Giant also possessed a unique kindhearted personality. He was famous not only for his success as a pro wrestler, but as an aspiring actor as well. It’s a well known fact that Andre always wanted to go and see a famous Broadway play to learn from the professional actors. But because of his size and massive stature he never did go to a play because he didn’t want to block the view of other “normal” people.
