The Department of Justice in the United States estimated that in more than half of the carjacking assaults, the culprit is successful at stealing the victim’s vehicle. Luckily for some victims, the criminals occasionally fail miserably at picking the right vehicle to carjack.
The case of the 21-year-old Andre Bacon from Chicago which was reported recently is beyond ridiculous. The alleged carjacker decided to enter the garage of an unsuspecting woman and demand she give him her car keys. The victim was just about to exit her garage with her brand new 2012 Honda MDX when Bacon sneaked behind her and startled her.
The victim complied to his demand and handed over her keys. She then exited the garage. While Bacon attempted to ignite the engine and escape, the victim wittingly exited and closed the garage with her remote control.
Bacon was left locked inside the garage and had absolutely nowhere to go. When the cops arrived they found him sitting at the driver’s seat of the Honda and waiting impatiently.
He was charged with felony for attempted vehicle carjacking and is currently jailed on a $75,000 bond.
