In 2011, Alice Walton was suspected of driving whilst drunk in Texas, yet, the prosecutors decided not to press charges, and in fact, the whole incident seems to have just disappeared. However, Jeffrey Davis, a Texas Trooper didn’t realize that pulling over this drunk driver was going to have more consequences than he realized.
In his determination of how drunk she was, she couldn’t walk in a straight line, or put her finger on her nose. This meant she failed the roadside sobriety test which is commonly used.
Alice Walton has a lot of money, able to get any art that she wants, and also, to be above the law. She even has someone to sort out her car registration for her.
She even managed to get an excuse for the reasons of failing the sobriety test. She somehow managed to get two doctors to send a note to the courts, saying that the reason she couldn’t keep balance, or hold her head up was because of a crash she was in just under 30 years earlier.
That was the first time she had a crash, and it certainly wasn’t the last. In 1988, she accidentally killed Oleta Hardin due to an accident, but didn’t get any punishment for it. In 1998 she wrote of an SUV as well.
She tried to argue that she had been working so hard at work that day caused the crash into a phone booth, not that she had an extremely high blood alcohol content. Despite the judge keeping to his guns, and charging her, she only paid $925. A tiny crumb compared to her, then, worth of around $6 billion.
Now however, with Walmart continually expanding, it’s thought she is worth approximately $33.5 billion.
During this prosecution in question, Trooper Davis was suspended and therefore couldn’t testify against her, which meant the video was inadmissible. Eventually, the statute of limitations effectively let her get away with it, and soon after, a call to get the records removed from her file, was allowed.
