Hollywood actor Mark Wahlberg didn’t have an easy start : born in a working class district of Boston, he got in trouble in his teenage years. Being the youngest of nine siblings and coming from a financially challenged background, Wahlberg got involved in drug abuse and other types of crime. After being convicted and serving time, Walberg realized it was time to turn his life around.
For a while he was a part of the successful 80s boy band ‘New Kids On The Block’ alongside his brother Donnie Walberg but quit to pursue his own career. He gained fame recording under the stage name Marky Mark and got a few platinum singles. Walberg also did some modelling for a while and was a part of major ad campaigns for brands like Calvin Klein, Gap and others.
Dropping out of high school due to his troubled youthful years, Walberg has always wanted to get his diploma as an example for his children and all his teenage fans. The ‘Pain And Gain’ actor stated that he didn’t want his children to think that dropping out of school was a good idea and everyone who does that would end up with a Hollywood career like he did. Walberg pointed out that he was just one of the lucky guys but if he could go back in time, he would make a totally different decision regarding his education. Therefore, in June 2013, after taking online courses and studying with a tutor in between takes on the film set, Walberg finally managed to get his high school diploma. The actor also donated money to a charity foundation which granted scholarships to less privileged teens.
