One of the most unusual places to receive a fine is probably the public cemetery. After all, what exactly can you do apart from disturbing the resting souls? Apparently, you can get fined at the cemetery for placing too much flowers on somebody’s grave.
Emma Townsend was beyond surprised when she found out a note on her little daughter’s gravesite at the Alfreton Cemetery in Derbyshire, UK. As if finding the note wasn’t strange enough, its content turned out to be even more puzzling. The note said that Emma would have to face a fine because she has been placing too much flowers on her daughter’s grave. According to reports, the charges range between $79 and $133. It sounds absolutely unbelievable, but the penalty notice said that the flowers didn’t comply with the graveyard’s guidelines. Since when placing flowers and remembrance tokens is against any guidelines?
And what’s worse is the fact that this isn’t the first case in which the cemetery has fined people for the same “crime”.
