Suzanne Heintz from Englewood, Colorado is an art director at a local museum. For the past 14 years Suzanne has been involved in a rather intriguing project called ‘Life Once Removed’. All this time the woman has been living and travelling all over the world with her plastic family – a synthetic “husband” called Chauncey and a teenage “daughter” called Mary Margaret.
Suzanne came up with the idea of the mannequins after she kept being tortured by people’s questions regarding her personal life. The arty woman wanted to show everyone that you don’t need to follow anyone else’s idea of happiness but your own. So she started travelling the world with her mannequin family and taking tons of photos capturing beautiful places and famous landmarks just like any other family on vacation would do. Some people have a very shocked reaction to Suzanne’s project, others are thrilled, some even taken aback. She hopes her project has managed to raise awareness about 21st century women’s rights to choose their own way to be happy.
