A woman named Lakeisha Brooks had a day of shopping she would probably never forget for the rest of her life. The woman was inside the local store situated at 561 Grand Caillou Road, Houma, LA when she got struck by lightning not once but two times in a row.
While Brooks was paying for her groceries around 2 o’clock in the afternoon, she saw a flash of lightning and heard a strong bang before suddenly collapsing on the floor. She pushed the grocery cart away in order to protect her 2-year-old child from the lightning that struck her. Brooks said it felt like hot oil running throughout her body. She lost consciousness for a second and just as she snapped out of it ,she felt the lightning hit her for a second time.
Lakeisha Brooks, who is a 33-year-old native resident of Houma and a mother of four children, stated that she had never heard of anyone being hit by a lightning indoors. Not to mention more than once. Luckily, she only suffered mild injuries and had no burns. She only feels pain in her legs when she walks but according to doctors she will be completely healed in a few weeks. The 33-year-old mother feels blessed by God even to be alive after such a horrific accident.
