A university student thought the way he was treated by his school stank. That’s exactly what the staff and the other students thought about him, too.
Teunis Tenbrook went to Rotterdam’s Erasmus University in order to study philosophy. However, the professors and the other students couldn’t stand Mr. Tenbrook. They thought his feet were extremely smelly and the heavy odor was preventing them from going on with their work and studies. Thus, Erasmus took measures against the problem and expelled him. He decided to sue the university and his decision ended up in a 10 year long legal battle between the school and him. Although the guy’s colleagues and the staff members at Erasmus declared his feet’s smell so horrifying that it was making it impossible for them to concentrate, Tenbrook still won the battle.
Back in 2009 he was allowed to return to the university. The judge thought that his nasty odor wasn’t a reason for expulsion, but a reason for his colleagues to hold their noses.
