Christmas is a curious holiday when it comes to financing and sorting out priorities. Whether it’s because people are too generous at this time of year or because they believe the miracle would be money falling off the sky, they tend to get too carried away in their purchases.
In order to help their tenants escape from post-holidays stress and financial disabilities, Hammersmith and Fulham Council sent numerous Christmas cards, which were found as offensive and insulting by their receivers. The cards advice the tenants to not over-indulge themselves this Christmas and to pay their rent. When asked about the cards, Hammersmith and Fulham Council reply with a simple explanation – since 46% of their tenants have been falling into arrears with their rent, the Council thought it was high time someone did something. And apparently they did a little too much.
Nevertheless, the Council told the media that their only purpose is to help their tenants and prevent them from putting themselves in unflattering situations. They surely have a strange way of showing it.
