A year ago on the 4th of July Kendra Villanueva and her partner Ian Gordon were celebrating the Independence Day out in the open. There was a storm and a lightning bolt suddenly hit the couple. The lightning damaged Ian’s ears and then it hit his pregnant girlfriend.
Kendra had to be rushed to hospital in order to bear prematurely their daughter, Kimberly Gordon. Kimberly was born with a C-section 2 weeks before her due date and she had electrified hair. Nowadays the 1 year old Kimberly still has static hair. The doctors aren’t sure why the static is still running through the baby’s body and hair, but they believe it’s a miracle Kimberly has survived.
There are nearly a dozen similar cases of pregnant women being struck by a lightning and only half of their newborn babies managed to survive. Thus, Kimberly’s father likes to joke that someday his daughter will grow to have superhuman powers and save the world with as a real-life superhero.
