There are teachers who teach basic subjects such as maths, biology or chemistry and teachers who teach life lessons. Ray Coe is definitely the second kind.
As soon as the selfless teacher found out what his student was going through he decided to help her. It turned out that Alya Ahmed Ali needed a kidney transplant and had to undergo daily dialysis. The 13-year-old girl desperately needed the kidney transplant and her teacher decided he would be the one to make it happen for her. However, that isn’t Alya’s only health problem. She also suffers from hydrocephalus, a condition which is impairing her learning abilities.
Touched by her story Mr. Coe didn’t hesitate at all when medical tests revealed he and Alya were a match. The family of the girl couldn’t express their gratitude and Alya herself said that “now he was one of them”. The kidney transplant was successful and both Alya and Mr. Coe hope to return to school after the Easter holiday break.
