Recently one of the most bizarre crimes was documented in Russia. Apparently, the Russian authorities were able to apprehend the culprit who allegedly stole an entire stretch of road.
The man is a 40-year-old citizen of Syktyvkar, a city located in the European part of Russia. When he was interrogated he admitted being behind the theft of 82 fully reinforced concrete slabs. The road thief stole the only road that connects the village of Parcheg with the Vychegda river. In order to do it he used a special industrial machine known as a manipulator. It combines the operations you can do with a forklift and a bulldozer. He used the manipulator to load the heavy slabs on a convoy of 3 huge trucks and transport them to his home.
The theft was estimated at a little over $6,000 for almost a full mile stretch of road. The culprit now faces a 2 year sentence in prison for his odd crime.
