A trio of entrepreneurs from Melbourne, Australia has started a rather interesting business named Jafflechutes which delivers sandwiches via parachute. Adam Grant, Huw Parkinson and David McDonald came up with their innovative idea while there were in a remote cabin in a Victorian country town. They thought it would be a fun way to deliver the otherwise regular snack and, what is more, the trio is not doing for profit but just for the fun of it.
They make the parachutes themselves using garbage bags, nylon strings, tape and wire. They also ask people to recycle them once the sandwiches are delivered as any extra waste is unwanted. The sandwiches are parachuted in inner-city laneways where there is less traffic and away from trees and ledges. Communication with people waiting on the ground while their order is floating down from the sky towards them is only via Twitter and other social media as any shouting off a rooftop or balcony would look bad, explain the business trio. Currently, they are planning other Jafflechutes events in different cities all over the world starting with New York.
