It’s a well-known fact that the social network harbors not only your grannie, but also hundreds of fake profiles of numerous celebrities. However, it appears that one particular social networking website has profiles of people who don’t actually exist in the real world.
The French police was recently alerted about a missing 2 year old child named Chayson Basinio, who had disappeared from a car park near a supermarket. The missing person report was given to the police by a woman who claimed she was the boy’s great-aunt. The local police department immediately plunged into a search session, which even included carefully dredging a nearby lake. After the authorities failed to find any sign of the missing boy they tried to contact his parents. Shortly after it turned out the whole Basinio family existed only in Facebook!
The police are now questioning the woman who filed the report in the first place. The missing person investigation has now been turned into an investigation of an imaginary crime report.
