People say you can’t choose your own parents. But when a nurse from the hospital in which you were born accidently gives you away to a completely unrelated mother, things can get ugly.
An unnamed man was born at the San-Ikukai Hospital in Tokyo nearly 60 years ago. A hospital nurse took him and another baby for a bath and accidently switched the two newborns. That’s how the man ended up in a poor family instead of spending his life with his biological rich parents. The mistake broke out when the second family realized their baby didn’t share any family trades with them so they did a DNA test, which showed that they weren’t related to their son. Following the hospital’s records, they found their real son, who sued the hospital for making his life poor and miserable. Literally.
The judge’s decision was in the man’s favor – in the end he received 38 million yen ($371,000) from the hospital for having to spend his life in extreme hunger and poverty.
