One man spent $40,000 on Imax cinema tickets just so he could prove a point to his ex-girlfriend.
Sometimes when we’re provoked by others, we do stupid things. We feel the urge to prove a point, to prove ourselves and we end up regretting things. This man’s case is slightly different, because he doesn’t regret spending $40,000 on cinema tickets just to prove his point to his ex-girlfriend.
A Chinese man, identified only as Mr. Wang, got dumped by his ex-girlfriend 7 years ago. He was so hurt by his former partner that he decided he should do something about it, regardless of how stupid that thing was. As it turns out, Wang’s ex-girlfriend dumped him, because he couldn’t afford to pay for a couple of cinema tickets when they went on a date to the cinema. Nowadays the man makes more money that his ex could have ever imagined. Instead of spending it on something useful, the guy spent nearly half of his monthly income on tons of Imax cinema tickets. He paid a total of $40,650 on the tickets booking two cinemas in Beijing for the screening of Transformers 4. He used Twitter to spread out the word of his actions, which were guided by his desire to prove his point to his ex – that she made the wrong decision 7 years ago by dumping him.
The guy promised free tickets to anyone, who would retweet his posts and photos, which proved he had made the purchase. It’s not clear if the word got to his former girlfriend, but so many people retweeted the tweets and the pictures that the man started making international headlines. According to official reports, he has given away more than 1,500 tickets for free to the people, who helped him spread his story.
