The 38-year-old Jordy Cernik from Newcastle has an incredible “talent” – he can’t feel fear. Probably a few years ago he would never consider skydiving or bungee jumping but now he is embracing such challenges with an open mind and no second thoughts whatsoever. Mr. Cernik’s new found audacity may seem a bit unbelievable but it was actually caused by a terrible side-effect after a complicated series of surgeries. At one point of his life Cernik was suffering from a very uncommon condition called Cushing’s syndrome. In order to cure him, the surgeons had to remove the gland in his body responsible for adrenaline production. Essentially, adrenaline is a hormone responsible for our alertness and reactions in case of imminent danger. It makes us feel scared and stressed out. Once the gland was removed Jordy was left unable to feel anything like that ever again. Now after successfully defeating the challenges of skydiving and bungee jumping Mr. Cernik is planning on doing a wing-walk on an aircraft in midair.
