One inmate broke out of his prison wing, because he loathed the non-stop rap music playing around him.
This guy loathes rap music so much that he even broke out of his prison cell, only because there was rap playing all the time in his prison wing.
Meet Robert Stevens, the convicted inmate, who made headlines not for his crimes, or for the fact that he managed to break out of jail, but for the reason he broke out in the first place. Stevens, who has a long history of criminal activity, was serving a 6 and a half year long sentence on robbery charges. He had been enlisted among other inmates at a category D jail in Tortworth, South Gloucestershire, UK, ever since 2011. However, he felt so frustrated and fed up with the constant rap music, which was playing all day and night in his prison wing, that he decided there was only one thing he could do about it – run. And that’s exactly what he did. The 58 year old Stevens broke out of his cell and the prison facility. According to his lawyer, Stevens was just about to hand himself in after the breakout, but he was caught by the police. In addition to the rap music, Stevens also claimed he loathed the fact that other inmates in his wing constantly tried to make him buy illegal drugs.
Even though the man’s lawyer managed to mitigate his case, the judge still decided to punish him for breaking out of the facility. Stevens was sentenced to another 10 months in prison just for breaking out. The judge stated that the sole fact that he doesn’t see eye to eye with the other inmates is part of the consequences he has to face for committing crimes.
