Colton Burpo, a 13 year old kid, had an appendectomy when he was a toddler. During the operation his parents believed they would lose him and prayed to the Heavens for their son to make it through the operation.
According to Colton himself, he went to Heaven and saw his grandfather, who had been dead for many years, and his unborn sister, who had died in a miscarriage. The boy was able to recognize his grandfather from old photographs, but his parents never told him about the unfortunate fate of his unborn sister. He described in detail the angels and the colorful streets of Heaven in an interview. In 2010 his father Todd wrote a book about his son’s unearthly experience, entitled Heaven is for Real: A Little Boy’s Astounding Story of His Trip to Heaven and Back. It became a New York Times best-seller.
Allegedly, Sony Pictures have already acquired the film rights of the book in order to transform Colton’s story into a motion picture.
