A scientific research published in August, 2013 suggested that every man and woman living today can trace their origin to the first man and woman who walked the Earth some 135,000 years ago. The new discovery, which overturns some earlier findings, was reached through the most complete analysis of the male chromosome or the so called “Y” chromosome. Although the ancient “Eve and Adam” co-existed during the same time, they most likely didn’t meet each other according to Dr. M.Sayres, a geneticist at the California University.
By tracing the DNA from the mitochondria the team of scientists, conducting the research, discovered that the “ancient Eve” most probably lived somewhere in today’s East Africa about 150,000 years ago. The research team also discovered that ancient men living in different parts of the world have significant similarities in their DNA.
By calling their findings on the first humans on the planet “ancient Adam and Eve” scientists do not mean to make a direct reference to the Adam and Eve mentioned in the Bible. More likely, the research shows data about two of the people living on Earth at that moment of time who had an unbroken lineage, respectively male or female, that carries on in present day.
