This guy has spent the last 50 years traveling the world on his bike
Meet the man who has traveled the world on a bicycle.
Back in November 1962, a 22 year old man from Germany named Heinz Stücke quit his job as a factory worker and set off on a long journey on his three-speed bike. Since then he hasn’t returned to his home country. For the past 50 years, Heinz has been traveling the world on his bicycle – from Egypt to the US and from Siberia to the UK. By 2010 he had visited a total of 195 countries and nearly 80 independent territories. Back in 1996, Heinz reached the Seychelles and for a while thought he had accomplished what he wanted in life. Nevertheless, he continued traveling. He was shot, robbed, hit by trucks and arrested, none of which stopped him from going on. He even set a world record for traveling on a bike more widely and longer than any other person on the planet.
Today Heinz is still riding his bicycle – the same old three-speed one from the 1960s.
