Keith Lucas from Florida had a problem with the way he was treated by the Sheriff’s Office in Hillsborough County. He called them a total of 2,927 times using the non-emergency line. The 43-year-old man deliberately belittled the dispatchers multiple times over the phone and complained about the Sheriff’s attitude towards him using a very vulgar language.
Lucas has been arrested several times for different kinds of criminal mischief including DUI, battery and disorderly conduct. According to the dispatchers the man would call the Sheriff’s Office at least 10 times a day. Sometimes he would hang up the phone himself, other times the dispatchers were forced to disconnect him after finding out he was not in need of any kind of medical or police help. Due to his constant calling the Sheriff’s Office between May 2012 and December 2013 Lucas was taken to court and then sentenced to probation. Lucas was made to promise that he would only contact the police in case he was in actual need of law enforcement.
