Last year Alison Whelan, 51, allegedly stole a big passenger boat and yelled at police officials that she was Jack Sparrow. Eventually, the woman was jailed for 122 days after the incident.
Whelan was reported being in a bar near the harbor in Devon, England two days before the theft.
After having one-too-many drinks the woman called the emergency services claiming she was having a seizure. After the paramedics responded to the call and went to assist her, they were shocked to see the woman accompanied by a male friend of hers aboard on a big ferry designed to transport up to 45 passengers. Two maintenance support specialists attempted to remove the drunk couple from the ferry but then Whelan became aggressive and did not let them come aboard. After that the woman started untying the boat and left it drift away causing tons of damage to the harbor and the other boats in it.
According to witnesses of the whole fiasco Whelan did not stop screaming that only she and none other was the infamous pirate Jack Sparrow.
In conclusion, the police were able to stop the “pirates” a mile away from the Devon harbor. When apprehended, Whelan told the police she would have woken up in St. Tropez if they hadn’t stopped her prematurely.
The total damage the incident caused was estimated to be worth thousands of pounds.
