Almost everyone has experienced a bad breakup involving dramatic conflicts, accusations and ugly scenes. Some of these breakups are really nasty and provoke terrible reactions in the partners. Thus, Dr Richard Schmidt from the USA decided to revenge on his ex-girlfriend for their breakup by injecting her with the HIV virus.
In 1994 Schmidt took a blood sample from a patient infected with AIDS and injected it to his ex partner, Janice Trahan. Half a year later Ms Trahan, who is a nurse, found out she was infected. She was sure Dr Schmidt had infected her and told the police that he had visited her one night to make a supposedly Vit. B injection. The police made a detailed investigation and found that Dr Schmidt had gotten a blood sample from his patient with AIDS but had never sent it to the laboratory.
The great challenge for the detectives was to match the DNA of the virus, the patient and the victim but they managed successfully and Dr Schmidt was sentenced to 50 years in prison.
