Dr. Charles Pearman had a tough life. He had divorced his wife, lost a lawsuit against the Detroit Police Department and confessed his love to an absolutely uninterested woman who was already married. So in the 1950s Dr. Pearman thought his life was over and he really needed to end it. So he hired a man to murder him.
The doctor met with a porter in a night bar and convinced him to find an ex-convict who would be willing to do the job for $500. However, the doctor wasn’t expecting to meet with an undercover police officer who would play the role of the hitman.
When the undercover cop went to meet the doctor at the previously arranged time and place, Pearman had already gotten cold feet. He had abandoned his office but the police were still able to locate and arrest him. However, he was later released since he never really committed a crime.
