Just think about the nasty breath you’d have if you were to eat a whole garlic clove. Now think about what it would be like if you ate 33 cloves in a row!
Earlier this month the village of Chideock in Dorset, UK, hosted the UK’s annual World Garlic Eating Competition. If that doesn’t give you the shudders, just wait until you read the whole story! During the competition David Greenman managed to beat all the other competitors by downing a total of 33 garlic cloves. Not only were they raw, but the 34 year old winner ate them in just 60 seconds! His first runner-up managed to swallow a total of 31 cloves in one minute, while the other contestants fell behind grimacing while eating the raw garlic.
According to the official reports, Mr. Greenman was a single clove away from equaling the world record. The reports also state that he came to the competition alone – apparently none of his friends or family members can stand the nasty breath that raw garlic gives him.
