A long way from Gotham city, the town of Taubate in Brazil has one of the highest crime rates in the state of Sao Paulo. In order to find a solution to this pressing issue the officials responsible for governing the city have decided to hire a “superhero” to help out.
They have hired a retired 50-year-old soldier from the military forces named Andre Luiz Pinheiro to impersonate the caped vigilante and patrol the streets of Taubate. Fortunately, no one is counting on this Brazilian Batman to actually fight gang members and organized crime in the city. He has a rather ambassadorial role designed to spread awareness among children about crime prevention techniques and educate them about crime itself in general.
Despite the city officials do not plan on installing the “bat signal” anytime soon, Pinheiro’s costume is quite convincing and he’s making kids more enthusiastic to learn about crime prevention in their community.
