The 35 year old Chandre Oraon from Alipurduar, West Bengal, India, is believed to be a reincarnation of Hanuman, the Hindi monkey deity.
When Oraon was a child his mother chopped off his tail and he became sick shortly after, so his parents saw his tail as a sign of divinity. However, as man grew older, children started bullying him and pulling his tail just for kicks. Later in his life nearly 20 women rejected him because of his tail until he married his present wife Maino in 2007. Ever since Oraon’s life has improved. Nowadays people all over India see him as a deity. They believe he possesses healing powers and that the touch of his tail offers blessings. The man has been welcoming a wide range of people in his modest shrine. His dream is to build a temple for all those people who put their faith into him.
According to medics, his tail is a product of a rare form of congenital defect. However, Oraon has turned down all offers to remove his tail.
