The story of an 87 year old veteran from World War II became a hit on the Internet recently after video footage of his fearless stunt was uploaded on the web. Unlike many stunts, this was done not for the adrenaline rush, but for a great cause.
Clarence Turner wanted to raise money for his great-grandson Julian, who’s only a toddler, but is suffering from congenital lung disease. The veteran flew 11,000 feet in the sky with an instructor and skydived so he could garner publicity for Julian’s cause. He told the media that it’s the least he could do for his great-grandchild. According to reports, the toddler has already had a surgery for a lung transplant, but the medical costs exceed over $1 million. There is still no known cure for the boy’s rare condition.
Mr. Turner’s skydiving isn’t his first one. He made numerous jumps during his army service and performed his most recent leap before this one at the grand old age of 85.
