The British hotel chain Travelodge decided to perform a bizarre survey after the management realized their guests kept leaving behind the most unexpected object : a teddy bear. Some 75,000 teddy bears have been left behind by Travelodge hotel guests over the past several years so the survey was aiming to find out the reason behind the weird phenomenon.
As it turned out, the majority of the fluffy toys didn’t even belong to children, as one might think, but to full grown adults. Well, apparently, all these adults had a little child inside of them. More than 30% of the participants in the study have reported they still kept their childhood teddy bears and liked to cuddle to them at night. Many have also stated that they tend to take their teddy bears with them when going away on business as the presence of the toys reminded them of home and helped them sleep better.
More than 25% of British men have admitted they put their teddy bears away when their girlfriends come over. The married men included in the survey have reported they do the same when they have friends or family staying overnight.
Approximately 15 % of men and 10% of women asked, have confessed they regard their teddy bears as dear friends and even share intimate secrets with them.
About 26% of male participants have stated they find having a teddy bear when you are an adult completely acceptable.
