Three men got arrested for conducting a treasure hunt in the sewers of New York City.
Most people usually associate treasure hunts with deserted islands, old faded maps and undecipherable instructions. These 3 men are most definitely not most people.
According to official reports, the NYPD arrested 3 guys, who decided to go treasure hunting in the sewers underneath the city. The 21 year old Marquis Evans, the 35 year old Damien Nieves and the 45 year old David Hannibal probably thought of this strange and quite improbable get-rich-quick scheme before they descended into the drain system, since they were fully equipped with everything they needed – from easy access to metal detectors. The reports claim that the men had intended on conducting a search for any lost possessions that might prove valuable. After all, the streets of New York are stacked with lost “treasure”, but nobody knows what types of valuables get forever lost in the sewers. The brave (or more likely stupid and disgusting) men managed to spend 4 extremely long and stinky hours walking through the sewer system of New York before they were caught by the local police and arrested.
The reports also show that the 21 year old Evans made it possible for the other guys to sneak into the city’s sewers thanks to his position at the Department of Environmental Protection. Not even one of the 3 men found any stinky treasures, despite the fact that they spent 4 hours looking for some with metal detectors. They are currently facing charges for reckless endangerment and trespassing. A spokesperson for the NYPD said that while the police still haven’t figured out how the men came up with this nasty idea, no police officer would want to do the same.
We doubt that any sane person would even think about it, let alone actually do it!
