When we usually see some celebrity on TV, like an actor, a model, a spokesperson or an entertainer, sometimes we automatically assume that they were too stupid to become scientists or medical doctors, so they’re making money with their looks.
Take Tony Hawk, for example. He’s a well-known face, a skateboarding legend and even a video game character. But before he became a world-wide known sportsman, he was just a high school genius. Hawk’s IQ is 144 and he was put in GATE programs in his school, which are specially designed for gifted students. He could have become a scientist, lawyer, doctor or other career, since he was smarter than his school mates. The strange part is that they actually bullied him for being a skater, rather than for being smart. Nevertheless, his parents supported him when he decided to continue skating. He became a professional skater in 1982.
Ever since then he has appeared in a number of films, interviews, video games and so on.
