At the age of 13 or 14 years old, many of us will have hopes and dreams that we cannot yet reach due to our age, and inexperience. They’ll be future dream jobs, and places we want to go which are just out of our reach, but hopefully we’d be able to get there eventually. That wait can be torturous and some experiences don’t come around again.
That’s why Laurence Fishburne decided to seize an opportunity at the age of 14. The film ‘Apocalypse Now’ was looking for actors to fulfil supporting roles, and the one role of ‘Gunner’s Mate 3rd Class’ but to apply you had to be at least 17 years old. At the age of 14, you’d think there’d be no way you could mistake him for a 17 year old, but sure as hell, he managed to land the role. And what’s more, is that the filming took so long, that he was actually 17 by the time they’d finished.
Apart from his role in this film, he has also been active in other TV shows, and on the stage, and even featured (in a small part) in a Steven Spielberg film.
