Do you tend to freak out when a black cat crosses your path? Do you go round a ladder every time you see one? Do you believe in bad luck caused by a broken mirror? Well you, my friend, are superstitious.
I bet you hate the ultimate date of doom – Friday the 13th. You probably lock yourselves at home and refuse to go outside, meet up with people or make important decisions. Why? Because it’s Friday the 13th! And you’re not the only one! The Stress Management Center and Phobia Institute estimates that a total $700-$800 million are lost on each of these dreaded dates, because people refuse to do anything of importance in case of disaster.
However, there’s no need to fear this number. If you put aside your unfounded fears, you’ll see that Friday the 13th is just as good as any other Friday.
In fact, in some countries, it’s not even Friday the 13tha that’s feared. Superstitious Spanish people, for example, dread the arrival of, not Friday, but Tuesday the 13th.
