An 8 year old boy wrote to Lego and told them that he wanted to work for them. He got to make his dream finally come true 15 years later.
Sam Johnson was only 8 years old when he decided what he wanted to be when he grew up. He wrote to The Lego Group – the Danish company, which produces the Lego toys. The young boy told them that he loved their products so much that he wanted to work for them. Of course, he didn’t get a job with Lego back then, but he actually managed to work for his dream in order to make it come true – a decade and a half later.
Sam never stopped loving the toys throughout the years. He graduated a couple of years ago from the University of Derby with a Bachelor’s degree in Product Design. He actually used Lego in his final year project! Not only that, but some of his ideas were displayed in London, UK, at the New Designers Exhibition. Lego officials were impressed by Sam’s ideas and his story, so they offered him the job of his dreams.
Nowadays, 15 years after he told his parents what he wanted to become when he grew up and 15 years after he wrote to the company asking for a job, the 25 year old Sam is finally working at Lego as a toy designer. He spoke out about the incredible opportunity and stated that his job is mainly focused around “a lot of Lego building”. He also shared that the job he got suited him perfectly. One of Lego’s officials addressed Sam’s extraordinary case and stated that it was “very special”, even though almost every single Lego candidate-employee claims he/ she has loved the company’s toys since their childhood years.
