A teenage girl got kicked out of class, because she’s allegedly “too ginger”.
If you go to school with an extremely quirky hair do you might get up in detention or just suspended. This particular teenage student, however, got the boot, because she was “too ginger”.
Meet Emily Reay – the “too ginger” girl. The 17 year old Emily, who goes to the Trinity School located in Carlisle, Cumbria, UK, was kicked out of class once she returned to school after her Easter holiday. Emily’s hair is flaming red with orange and yellow-ish tones and it has been like this for the past three years. Up until now nobody has said anything negative about her choice of hair color, but it seems like the staff at her school changed their mind. The teenager was told that she would be suspended from classes just before her A-list exams. Emily, who is a musician, shared that everybody knows her as the “young ginger singer” and that she will have to attend her exams in just a couple of months. This is why she can’t miss out any classes right now.
Unfortunately, the authorities at her school don’t care about that. They reportedly told the teen to either tone down her ginger color or simply dye her hair in a “more natural” color. The school policy forbids students from attending classes with unnatural hair styles and colors such as blue, for example, but Emily’s ginger hair isn’t really that shocking. Nevertheless, she has been given the ultimatum to their change her hair color or to be kicked out of all her classes.
The teenager spoke out loud about the situation and shared that the decision to dye her hair bright ginger came from the need to be more self-confidant. She also stated that if she dyed her hair a more natural color, she would lose that confidence in herself.
