You might find it hard to believe, but the McDonald’s cheeseburger actually has less calories than the ones found in a McDonald’s salad.
This may come as a shock, but McDonald’s’ salads aren’t healthy at all. In fact, they are worse than their burgers, since they actually contain more calories than the burgers! Is this for real? Yes, it most definitely is!
If you’ve ever been to McDonald’s trying to eat healthy by cutting back from the burgers and ordering a salad, you have definitely eaten more calories than you would have if you had ordered a burger instead. The salads served at the popular fast food mogul aren’t healthy at all, because they come with all sorts of ingredients, which are high on fat. Let’s take the Southwest Crispy Chicken salad for example. It comes with deep fried chicken (yes, the crispy chicken is deep fried, which makes it extremely high on fat), cheese (also tons of fat), croutons (let’s face it, this is basically bread in your salad!), extremely oily salad dressing and so on. The full McDonald’s Southwest Crispy Chicken salad actually has 480 calories, 24g fat and 43g carbs.
Now let’s compare the salad with one of McDonald’s’ popular burgers – the Bacon McDouble Cheeseburger. Because of the bacon, the minced meat, the cheese and the bread bun you would think that it has tons of calories. It really does. However, it’s not as bad as the Southwest Crispy Chicken Salad. The burger actually has 440 calories, 22g fat and 35g carbs. It doesn’t sound as bad as the salad, does it?
So, next time you’re thinking about eating healthy at a McDonald’s restaurant stay away from their salads. In fact, next time you’re trying to cut down on carbs and eat healthy, just stay away from the fast food chains!
