As if the news of a premature baby isn’t troubling enough, a British couple also has to cope with the gigantic medical bill they are stuck with after the birth of their child.
According to official reports, Katie Amos and Lee Johnston will be forced to stay in New York for the next three months without friends or family members to turn to for help. The couple, from Lincolnshire, UK, went on a vacation to the US for five days. Unfortunately, the baby boy they were expecting was born 11 weeks prematurely during their trip. Now the 30 year old Katie and her 29 year old fiancé Lee can’t fully enjoy their son Dax, because their medical expenses will cost them £130,000 (around $202,000 in USD). The Brits can’t leave the US before their son is safe to travel and they have nobody to turn to. Katie and Lee have set up a fundraising page for Dax on Go Get Funding and are hoping that their health insurance and some generous people will be able to help them.
The good news is that Dax is currently doing well in a hospital in NYC.
